In 1992, 13,149 people left the Ukraine for Israel, which constituted 21.6% of the entire aliyah from the former U.S.S.R. in this year; and 12,833 left the country in 1993, which constituted 21.2% of all immigrants to Israel from the former U.S.S.R. in that year. Whereas there was a drop in numbers of immigrants from Kiev, who claimed themselves Jewish, from 3,456 in 1992 to 2,292 in 1993, there was a rise of immigrants from Donetsk region.
In 1992, 20,363 Jews left the Ukraine for the U.S. but only 13,216 in 1993.
